THE SURROUNDING AREA of the Serrania de Ronda is unspoilt, mountainous and forested, a combination of spectacular wild landscape and  small traditional farms tucked into favoured corners. The area combines the opportunity to get away from it all and to immerse yourself in a rural Mediterranean environment and lifestyle, while still having good communications with urban centres of Ronda (50 kms), Estepona on the Costa del Sol (40 kms), and Malaga airport (120 kms).

The nearest villages are Genalguacil, Jubrique and Algatocin; all are small typical Andalucían "White villages", of less than 1000 inhabitants;  each village has a bank, school, health centre, shops, pharmacy and weekly market.

The Serrania de Ronda mountains are surrounded by other areas of great natural beauty - the Sierra de las Nieves Biosphere Reserve to the north, the Sierra de Grazalema National Park to the west, and the great cork oak forest of Los Alcornocales leading down to the Atlantic beaches of the Costa de la Luz in the south-west.


Thanks to many requests from vendors, we are now able to assist buyers in their search for properties in other areas, primarily around the historic towns of Ronda, Olvera, and Villamartin, to the northwest of the Serrania de Ronda. The landscape here is more open and rolling, surrounded by high limestone mountains with spectacular rock outcrops and cliffs. The land in these areas is an attractive patchwork of arable land or pasture, olive groves and "monte" (Mediterranean scrub with wild olive and stone oak trees) - very suitable for keeping horses, sheep and goats, and for medium-scale mixed livestock, equestrian and arable farming. Smaller plots are also available for smallholdings.
